LeBron James will be a DALLAS MAVERICK next year?
The term is "having your cake, and eating it too."
LeBron has already said that the only teams he’d really consider going to would be:
Cleveland - New York - New Jersey - Chicago - Miami - Los Angeles - Dallas
Now obviously, he could just agree to stay in Cleveland and make 6 years/$125 million, but how competent is his GM? His big move this offseason was getting 40-year-old Shaq, who really doesn’t do anything to help the team, and the Cavs are realistically only the 3rd best team in the East still.
So it would make the most sense for LeBron to go somewhere else by
A) Leaving
B) Demanding a sign and trade
so let’s look at the other teams:
New York and New Jersey: Neither of these teams can do much to sign and trade him, so they’d have to hope he just comes to them for 5 years/$91 million. Both of those teams suck though, doesn’t seem worth losing $30 million to go to a worse team.
Chicago and Miami: Both teams have the cap space to get him for $91 million, or could somehow miraculously get him in a sign and trade. The problem is neither team has anything Cleveland would really agree to for the sign and trade. They could be a great team, but still, if he does end up on the same team as Wade, he’ll probably only be making $91 million compared to Wade making $125 million. If you’re LeBron, are you willing to put your ego aside to make $30 million less and possibly not be considered the leader? His ego is too big. If he were to somehow get with Wade via sign and trade and they both make $125 million, the team would be gutted, and those 2 alone with scrubs couldn’t win a championship.
There will also be no "three headed monster" in Miami. If you honestly believe this is possible, you need to stop watching basketball. No way two of the three best players in the league take a paycut IN THEIR PRIME and no way 3 guys take up 95% of a team’s salary cap. They’d still wouldn’t win a Championship with 3 superstars and a bunch of scrubs.
Los Angeles: I don’t think Los Angeles really has anything to offer in a sign and trade except Bynum, but if you’re Cleveland, are you willing to take on his $30 million over the next 2 years and see him get injured over and over? Plus do you really think LeBron could manage to co-exist with Kobe, much like the Wade scenario above?
And that finally leaves Dallas. Dallas has the contracts to get Cleveland to agree to the sign and trade. (Instant cut from Dampier and Howard’s contract = $35 million in cap relief to pick up another superstar possibly, or a few great players.)
So if you’re LeBron, why wouldn’t you want to go to a team that’s already winning 55 games, where you could get a max contract, play with another superstar in Dirk, play with Kidd who you’re good friends with, and have an owner who has the money to give you everything you could ever want while you’re playing for his team?
Dallas is a top 5 media market, and he can still make his 6 years/$125 million, but on a good team.
Cleveland has set themselves up where it would be pretty damn hard to get Bosh to come to the team and still be under next year’s new Salary Cap, and they have nothing of value really to sign and trade
Person with the clown picture, do you understand why a team would want instant cap relief over bloated contracts, especially for Bynum who’s made of glass, and Artest who’s an idiot?
Do you actually have an idea how a sign and trade even works?
Personally, I think he stays with Cleveland and Bosh comes down to play with him and they dump shak

"Dallas has the contracts to get Cleveland to agree to the sign and trade. (Instant cut from Dampier and Howard’s contract = $35 million in cap relief to pick up another superstar possibly, or a few great players.)"
Lebron said himself that Money IS NOT more important than a Championship. I’m not saying Lebron’s leaving but Why would the Cavs want to get Dampier and Howard where from the lakers they can acquire Jordan Farmar, Andrew Bynum, Ron Artest, a possible draft pick and Lamar Odom?
Besides Dallas hasn’t won ANYTHING, made it to the Finals once and BLEW a 2-0 Series Lead to the Miami Heat! Why would he want to go to a team that hasn’t won anything?
He’s more likely to go to
Cleveland - New York - New Jersey - Chicago - Miami - Los Angeles than Dallas!
